One hundred and fifty miles of streets was maintained at a totalexpense of $152,454. Block paving was laid in Main, Southbridge andMechanic streets, $37,738 being expended in this new method. The steamer-house in Lagrange street was erected at a cost of$10,000. The fire loss was $60,000. The expenses of the Police Department amounted to $25,027;number of men, thirty.
