A lay-out of land at Maddaket in 1670 wasdescribed as being near the old cellar of Edward Star-buck. This meant that during his sojourn at Nantucket duringthe winter of 1660, Starbuck must have had a habitationat the west end of the Island which ten years later wasonly a cellar.
