The angel seems to be guarding the woman. The woman's face is pensive and composed but sad. There is an air of melancholia. The angel is holding lilies in its hands and is partially covered with green moss. Trees are visible behind, but are out of focus. The picture is taken from beneath. The angel towers over the woman.
