MODEL RELEASED. Fibroepithelial polyp on the inside of a 59-year-old man's cheek. This is a benign (non-cancerous) growth on the tongue's mucous membrane. The polyp, also called an acrochordon, consists of fibrous tissue surrounded by a layer of epithelial cells. The polyp can be surgically removed if it causes discomfort.
