The church of Notre Dame with the natural arch and needle in the background cliffs, Etretat, Normandy, France, Europe

The small chapel of Notre Dame de la Garde is situated above the limestone cliffs to the north east of the holiday resort of Etretat, Normandy. The chapel was reconstructed after having been destroyed during the 1940-45 war. In the background is the natural arch and spire, made famous by Monet and other artists, called the Falaise d'Aval (cliff of the arch) and Aigulle (needle).
