One ounce for one hundred feet of drill, six pounds for one acre. For sels, sow the seeds as early as possible in the spring, very thickly, in drills. As soon as the tops die off in summer, remove them to a dry, airy place; and early in the following spring replant by placing the sets in shallow drills 12 inches apart, and about 4 inches apart in the drills; the onions, by this process, are obtained of a large size early in the season. They may also be grown to full size during the first season by sowing thinly in drills 1 foot apart, and about \ inch deep, in March or early in April, in strong land, well manured, and thinning them out to stand 3 or 4 inches apart in the drills. They delight in a strong, rich, deep, loamy soil, and succeed well if grown successive years on the same ground. By sowing Onion seed in frames in February or March and transplanting in April, Onions of immense size can be olitained. For this purpose the varieties Southport Globe (White, Yellow or Red) and Prizetaker are usually preferred. Extra Early Ked. Earlier than the Wethersfield, and somewhat smaller, close-grained and a good keeper. Pkt. 5 cts.; oz. 15 cts.; \ lb. 50 cts ; lb. $ Early Yellow Cracker.
