HEFFNER-DIETRICH COMPANY of Kutztown, manufacturers of rye and wheat flour and dealers in coal, lumber and mill work,are the biggest concern ia their line in this locality. The business had its inception in 1869,starting under the firm name of Gonser & Heffner. Later James S. Heffner took sole charge ofthe plant and conducted it up to the time of his death in 1909, when his son, Samuel H., be-came the proprietor. The business increased continually and in 1913 the present company wasformed, composed of Samuel K. Heffner, Lawson G. Dietrich, Calvin Dietrich and IrvinDietrich. The daily capacity of the plant is one httndred barrels of wheat and fifty barrels rye. 171
