A splendid casket, Mechelen, 1st half of the 17th century. Wooden casket in the shape of a chest with hinged lid and ornamentally carved alabaster plaques. Two round arches between semi-columns at the front and sides. By pushing up both side panels three secret compartments incorporated into the base are revealed. On the front side lock with key. Some flaws and restorations, the lid handle replaced, later gold-bronze paint in places. x x cm. Cf.
