A large cast brass basin(Beckenschlägerschüssel),Nuremberg,around 1500 A deep brass basin with a narrow flanged rim. The bottom displays a rose in the centre,surrounded with gadroon ornamentation inside a decorative strip of Gothic script. Diameter 30 cm. Worn through in places by cleaning. Several minor repairs. Deep basins of this kind were also called blood basins(Blutschüsseln)as they were sometimes used for phlebotory purposes.
