Six years ago, in describing for the CambridgeArchaeological Societyl a hoard of metal found atSanton Downham, Suffolk, I ventured to suggest thatthe cauldron in which the other objects were found wasa tinkered water-clock, and compared its dimensionswith those of the Basclmrch specimen in the BritishMuseum. The addition of one from the Wotton hoardmakes the comparison all the more striking, and maylead to the true identification of several cauldrons sopatched or damaged at the base that the perf
