With the majority of these conclusions weare prepared to agree, although we should also like to mentionstill another variety, where there is a very dense shadow throughthe mediastinum and in the adjoining portions of the lungs. Thefollowing conditions must be differentiated: cancer, which givesa localized shadow with a sharp margin, except in the case ofsome infiltrating carcinomata,- which can not be distinguished;. Warner Watkins.) pneumokoniosis, which presents great difficulty in diagnosis; un-resolved pneumonia, which is likewise difficult to distinguish;tuberculosis, which tends to first invade the upper lobes or apicesand which shows distinct shadows in relation to the bronchialtree.
