Mesozoic reptiles, illustration. The reptiles shown here are a type of pterosaur (Pteranodon ingens, two flying reptiles at upper left), a Corythosaurus duck-billed dinosaur (upper centre), a Cryptoclidus plesiosaur marine reptile (lower centre) and two ichthyosaur marine reptiles (bottom left). The Mesozoic Era lasted from 252 to 66 million years ago. The three major periods were the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. Pteranodon and Corythosaurus lived during the Cretaceous. Cryptoclidus lived during the Jurassic. Ichthyosaurs existed for most of the Mesozoic Era.
