An increasingly rare, mostly nocturnal, black rhino being very cautious in the daylight
The photographs are from a night filming assignment to a secret location in Namibia. The reason for the secrecy is that it is one of the last great preserves for the black rhino; poachers not yet having found this remote location wherein the animals are still in relative abundance. The threat of poaching is not diminishing but actually increasing as of 2009, when it was found that it is again on the increase. It has been discovered that helicopters are being used to remove ivory to avoid the anti poaching forces. The funding for this is believed to come from China where ivory is still sold.
