Selkirk Common Riding. Riders canter at the Toll.
Selkirk is a small town in the Scottish Borders. Birthplace of the Selkirk Bannock as well as the home of Scotland's oldest horse racing track, Selkirk is probably best known for it's annual Common Riding festival, which is one of the largest in Scotland. Sir Walter Scott was appointed as the town's Sheriff-Deputy in 1799. Other notable historical figures associated with the area include Mungo Park, William Wallace and James Hogg.
