This, as well as the squarebell-tower which rises at the extremity of the right hand aisle, at theside of the apse, is doubtless of later date.^ The windows are closedby plates of alabaster as in some of the early Roman basilicas, butinstead of being pierced with apertures to admit the light, they are.
