On comparing it withthe engraving of the Mexi-can essay in the Stairip-Col-lectors Magazine for July,1865, the reader will ob-serve that the borderpatternof the Ecuador is almostidentical with that of theMexican, though the execution of the formerforbids the supposition that it emanatedfrom the same engravers. It is, in fact, acoarse imitation ; the colour is pale-red, thepaper white and iindentilated. Spain.—The emission of a new Spanish,stamp in the middle of a year is a rareoccurrence. We have now, however, tochronicle, the apj^earance of a 20 centesimoslilac, printed on white paper and denticu-lated. The device is identical with thatnow cnrrent in the colonies, which again isa reproduction of the 1864 type, with theaddition of the date of the current year, andthe alteration of the value from cuartos toceiitivws or centesimos. It is stated thatthe new stamp will take the place of thelilac 20 c. iVesciulo emitted in January last,the government having discovered that thelatter is being counterfeited.
