The Young Mens Christian Association,Dr. Brown stated, had tried the experiment ofnegro membership, and learned the direful re-sults. The Y. M. C. A. found, as always, thatthe negro was a disturbing element; it foundthat wine and water would not mix, and, inconsequence, the negro to-day had no rightsnor privileges in that world-wide organization.
