Achillies tendon examination. Physiotherapist using her hands to examine and treat a patient's Achilles tendon. The physiotherapist's thumbs are placed either side of the tendon, assessing its condition. The Achilles tendon is the thickest and strongest tendon in the human body. It joins the calf muscles to the heel bone in the foot. Damage to the tendon can range from inflammation and strain, to a complete rupture. Physiotherapy can help treat a strained Achilles tendon.
