The Camargue is made up of swamps and marshes in a natural environment where many birds make their home, especially flamingos. At the Parc Othnilogique or Bird Park Pont du Gau bird populations are monitored to measure their health and population for the sake of their conservation. In 1949 a nature lover in the Camargue, Andre Lamouroux and his son Rene created a habitat for many species of birds.
