Memorial day trade was up to ex- pectations, and a number of florists re- port it better than last year. There was no scarcity of flowers this year. Peonies were to be had in almost any quantity. Field daisies, candytuft, sweet peas, feverfew and other stock were enough to go around. Trade has been good. The bedding trade is holding up and will probably drag along for several weeks more. Bedding stock is still obtainable in al- most any quantity. There has been considerable cheap competition in this line this year. Store trade is booming; June wed- dings and commencements are keeping the store men on the run. Various Notes. S. S. Skidelsky, of Philadelphia, spent a day with the trade last week. Indianapolis is to have a new flower store. A corporation composed of Meyer Heller, Earl Mann and Fred Lemon was formed last week, capital- ized at $6,000. They have leased a building north of Ohio street on Penn street and are remodeling it. This firm expects to be ready for business in about two months. A. Wiegand & Sons are tearing down three of their old greenhouses and are going to put up two new ones in their place. These houses are to be equipped with cement benches. Albert Pittet had a fine lot of fever- few, candytuft and sweet peas for Deco- ration day. Martin Beukauf, with H. Bayers- dorfer & Co., spent a day with us this week. Paul Hoffman, with A. Wiegand & Sons, is all smiles. It is a boy. Frank Hasselman, of the Indianapolis Flower & Plant
