Golega is home to the Feira Nacional do Cavalo (National Horse Fair) and the Feira Internacional do Cavalo Lusitano (International Lusitano Horse Fair) each year. Normally the town is packed with visitors and horses, particularly the Lusitano breed of horse which is from this area. During 2021 the fairs were cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This image was taken in a virtually deserted town, with local businesses and events all closed down.
