Dr. Beddoe hasfound that the Irish upper class have darker eyes, but much lighter hair than the lower classes; thisn • • • is due to the large infusion of English blood in the Irishlanded proprietors and pro-fessional classes. Mixed withthese occur some shorter,darker people, who may be ofIberian race ; and others evenhave a Mongolian or Turanianaspect, and are conjectured tobe of servile origin, perhapsdating back to pre-Celtic an-cestors.
