Peppermint shrimp larva (Lysmata wurdemanni). Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the eye (spherical, dark) and feeler (foreground, light) of a peppermint shrimp larva. These shrimps are about 5 centimetres in size as adults, with transparent bodies and a multitude of red stripes. They are usually found in the Indo-Pacific area, living in the vertical shafts of a reef or in the cores of pipe sponges. Magnification: x150 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
