The Federations of Health and Social Health Sectors and the CCOO Citizen Services have concentrated this Thursday, October 8, before the Ministries of autonomous communities that are assigned the powers of social services. The Federations of Health and Social Health Sectors and the CCOO Citizen Services have concentrated this Thursday, October 8, before the Ministries of autonomous communities that are assigned the powers of social services. "From CCOO this concentration has been carried out before the insufficient proposal of the Government to increase 600 million euros, for this sector, first, because it is totally insufficient to serve people who are on waiting lists, and secondly, because they do not take into account or improve the care of the people who are currently being cared for, or improve the terrible working conditions and remuneration of the workers, "the union said in a statement. In his opinion, the Government "does not prioritize" the investment necessary to provide an "adequate" response, both to dependents and to workers who carry out their work in the sector. As CCOO recalls, it is a "highly feminized" sector. , where more than 90% of workers are women; with "a high index of medicalization", derived from musculoskeletal injuries; with "insufficient ratios" and salaries "that do not correspond to the work performed". The union regrets that Spain is "one of the countries in Europe with the least investment in the care sector", where there is "a great imbalance" between what the autonomous communities (83%) and the State (17%) contribute; and where "more than 80% of the resources are private provision". Both CCOO federations ask to correct this situation, rebalancing the system with greater investment from the State and a commitment to a greater weight of public places, both in home help and in residences. They also demand a "greater role" in direct management by governments.
