THE following brief forecast on the ricecrop of the year is based on reportsforwarded by the Government LocalExperimental Farms and published in theofficial gazette : Tokio and its Vicinity.—In consequenceof the various adverse influences, as, for ex-ample, low temperature, abundance of rain-fall, storms, etc., the rice crop of this year,as compared with the average years yield,will show a fall of 10 to 20 per cent. Theyield of upland rice will not differ from thatof the average year. Kei-Han.—Owing to the ravages of in-jurious insects and unfavoaable weather, theharvest will fall in yield by 10 to 20 percent, as compared to the average yearsyield.
