The first annual dahlia show of the •Colorado Dahlia Society was held at the Rink, Denver, Colo., September 2 and 8. It was a great show. The large build- ing was filled to overflowing with a gorgeous display of dahlias. Among the exhibitors were a number of growers who are professionals and many who grow for pleasure and sell some roots. B. T. Townsend made the finest display of high-class varieties. They were won- derful. The price of a dahlia root has no terrors for Mr. Townsend if he wants it. He also raises some high-class seed- lings of his own, that will be heard from in the Juture. The prizes in the profes- sional classes went to W. W. Wilmore, R. T. Davis and F. W. Carlson, whose displays were exceedingly fine. The Sanshine Dahlia Garden and L. M. Mc- Henry also had fine displays, as did many others in the amateur and semi- professional classes. Much of the success of the show was due to the efforts of the committees in charge. The chairmen of the commit- tees were as follows: Arrangements, George W. Beyer; program, B. T. Town- send; exhibition, Mrs. G. A. Warfield; decorations, R. T. Davis; music, Frank Corbin; publicity, J. A. Bixby, and prizes, C. R. Root. The judges
