Itsuse for blasting up subsoil in land that is deteriorating, for blastingunder and between failing fruit trees, and for cleaning up occasionalstumps and boulders overlooked in the first clearing, has alreadybeen referred to. It is also necessary for keeping roads and ditchesin shape, and is indispensable in those parts of the country where icemay form gorges in the streams in the early spring.
