Beck') of the vegetation of the sandy regions near the inner part of the Adriatic or with the indications given by Flahault and Combbes^) from Southern France, we shall find numerous points of resemblance. Many of the most conspicuous species are the same. Among the sand-plants of the island there are, however, also some true Oriental and Eastern Mediterranean types, e. g. Abine thy- mifolia, Alhagi Maurorurn, Marsdenia erecta, Anthemis eretica. Centaurea eretica and Launaya mucronata â as such types some other plants may probably also be counted, viz. Brassica Tournefortii and Neurada procumbent, both having a decidedly South-Eastern extension, although occurring as well in some places in the western countries of the Mediterranean. Among the endemic Cyprian plants only Silene laevigata ') (t. v. Beck, 'ise der lUyrisclien Liinder (Englee-Dkude, Veg. d. Erde, IV). -) ('h. Flahault et P.
