The War in the Air (1908). Artwork of German airships flying over a city in a story of a future war set in the 1910s. This artwork, by Arthur C. Michael, illustrated the serialisation in 'The Pall Mall Magazine' of 'The War in the Air' (1908) by British science fiction writer Herbert George Wells (H. G. Wells, 1866-1946). In this novel, fleets of airships wage worldwide war and cause the collapse of civilisation.
