London, UK. 1st February 2015. The unique annual Clowns' Church Service, also known as the Grimaldi Service, took place at the All Saints Church, in Haggerston, east London. The service saw costumed clowns gather to commemorate Joseph Grimaldi (1778-1837) and other deceased clowns. Joseph Grimaldi was an English actor, comedian and dancer, who became a well-known and respected clown performer and is acknowledged as the founder of today's face-painted clowns.
