Long, whom his friends named ?Sliorty, because he is considerably oversix feet, came originally (a long time ago, now) from the Louisville Male High gamboled there for four years or so along with other I. F. Ks, and in his sparemoments played guard on the football team, lie held that i)osition during the seasonsof 99, 00 and 01. During the season of 02 he substituted at guard for Purdue, but in1903 and 1904 he held that position on the \arsity. Shorty has always played a good. Irving H. Long, 06Left Guard King, right guard on the \arsity, played that position on the high school team of An-derson, S. C, during the season of 1902. He also played the same position on the .Mer-cersburg (Pennsylvania) Academy team during the next season. He is a youngster ofgood size and weight, and should develop into championship timber.
