Thai people gather to pay tribute after the death of Thai Princess Galyani Vadhana, elder sister to Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Royal Palace on January 5, 2008, in Bangkok, Thailand. Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana, elder sister of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died early on January 2, 2008 at the age of 84,the 84-year-old princess had been receiving treatment for abdominal cancer at Siriraj Hospital since June 15, 2007. HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana was born on May 6, 1923 in Edinburgh. Graduating in science and chemistry from the University of Lausanne, she was knowledgeable in the arts, languages, and history, and taught French language, literature and history and Chulalongkorn and Thammasat universities
