Theodore Atkinson,graduated at Harvard College in 1718, succeeded his father, ofthe same name, as town clerk. One of its most prominentcitizens, George Jaffrey, sent his son to Cambridge, and, subse-quently, a grandson of the same name. All three filled AariousProvincial offices, as well as being prominent in local aflairs. We give an excellent copy of a portrait of the first GeorgeJaffrey. by Smibert. And also the Jaffrey coat of arms, and theold Jaffrey clock, first set up in the Jaffrey cottage, in IGTG, andstill numbering the weary hours of its two hundred and eighthyear.
