Thereare no signs of retinal or choroidal defined, white lines (opaque nervefibres) radiate from the disc margins, givingthe effect of a halo about the central zone ofthe picture. A lateral view of the Gecko pecten is seenin Fig. 145; it is suggestive of a similar view ofthe Apteryx pecten (Fig. 27). Horned Toad. Phrynosoma LX. Left eye. Erect image. Thecolor of the fundus oculi is a dark slate, irregu-larly strewn with minute, whitish dots ofvarious sizes. There is an ill-defined macularregion. The pear-shaped, grayish papilla has awhite margin, from which short fibres of un-equal length radiate towards the single central (?) artery seems to originatefrom the nervehead and with its six branches— two on one side of the disc, four on theother — is supplied mostly to the lower halfof the eyeground.
