Vio- lets were almost a drug on the market* growers bringing them in by the thou- sands and dumping them at almost any price. Various Notes. HoflFman, of Pawtucket, placed 2,000 shamrock plants in 1^4-inc^ pots with one department store in this city last week. William I. Brown, manager of the Providence Seed Co., and wife have in- vitations out for the observance of the twenty-fifth anniversary of their mar- riage, March 19. Mr. and Mrs. T. L. O'Connor are spending a few days at Atlantic City, where 4;hey ar© stopping at the Chal- fo;nte. ' Robert Lament has taken a position at the Quidneck Greenhouses as rose grower. - Louie Pierce, of Norwood, was a visi- tor in New York last week. Miss Lottie Kricketein, for two years bookkeeper for J. Koppelman & Co., has given up her position' on ac- count of her health. Fred Covel, formerly manager of the Shepard flower department, but now located in Boston, is in the city visit- ing friends. Henry Patry has engaged with Smith the Florist for the remainder of the season. Charles Hunt had ten large designs for one funeral recently, and twelve for another. ? W. H.
