A late 18th century illustration of Datura ceratocaula of the Family Solanaceae, an annual plant that originally came from Mexico. Weed-like in its natural habitat, itis grown in gardens and yards as an ornamental plant. From "Plantarum rariorum horti caesari schoenbrunnensis", published in 1797, describing plants cultivated in the royal garden at the Palace of Schönbrunn near Vienna. Compiled by Nikolaus Joseph Freiherr von Jacquin (1727-1817), a Dutch scientist who studied medicine, chemistry and botany.
