My 1 >ear Sir: I much regret that official duties will peremptorilyforbid my attendance on the occasion of the jubilee of our almamater. From peculiar occurrences, two of our most important chairsare now vacant, temporarily, and this devolves increased labor andresponsibility on the residue. Besides, we have lately modified our inization; and this, though slight, requires that I should be pres-ent. I have some hope that I shall be able to induce Prof. SamuelM. Stafford (an elder alumnus than I) to attend. My class wasthat of December, 1821. That this first general convocation of our brothers may be happy, and fruitful of the best influences, is the sincere wish of. Dear sir, yours, most respectfully, B. Manly. Wm. F. DeSaussure, B ■ ■
