This illustration from the Penrose's Process Year Book for 1900 is based on a painting by Samuel E. Waller titled The Huntsman's Courtship. Born in 1850, Waller was a genre and historical and illustrator who was born in Gloucester, England. He studied at the Gloucester School of Art and in the office of his father, an architect. He also learned to draw animals on his father's farm. He died in 1903 in London.
