This nut is blanked out and threaded through this arch,after which it is accurately gauged, then deflected by pressureupon the crown of the arch by automatic machinery, thus pro-ducing a locking friction upon the threads, as shown in the illus-tration. The thread deflection in Grip Nuts has been made with scien-tific precision before leaving the factory. Each nut is gauged todetermine its thickness so that the deflection in the threads isabsolutely uniform at ail times. They are all ready to wrench inplace and will lock upon a bolt as soon as all the threads of theGrip Nut are engaged. They do not require to be jamm
