Tlie illustration shows a night view of abulletin board illuminated with mirror reflectors. Tliis differs from the average reflector in that the sliapeof the reflector is octagonal, which causes the light to beevenly diffused to every part of the sign or surface to l)e. lighted and the interior of the reflector is lined with mirrorglass, which is found to be superior to enameled or paintedreflectors. Since the advent of tungsten lamps, there has been aconsiderable movement in favor of illuminated sign boards;progressive advertisers are demanding lighted bulletins,claiming that more good advertising results are obtained ina few hours by night than during the entire day. The il-luminated billboard serves a double purpose, one that itpermits night advertising, and the other that it helps lightthe sidewalk as well as street.
