This grave lay North and South. It was about 1-ft. 6-in. fromthe surface of the ground to the bottom of the grave. The skull was separated from the rest of the skeleton andturned up on its crown, the face bones gone, the teeth betweenthe skull and body. A pair of saucer fibulae, bronze thickly gilt, with iron gilding of one of these was very brilliant when found,instead of being obscured with verdigris as most of such objectswere.
