Taipei. The Lungshan (Dragon Mountain) Temple is Taipei's oldest and most popular is near the old city center. Construction began in 1738 and was completed two years later. There is a legend that someone left a charm or lantern of Kuanyin hanging on a tree. It began a giving a light and granting wishes to local residents who consequently decided to build a temple to mark the sacred is known as the 'meeting place of the gods', there are over a hundred deities worshipped here, since settlers from Fujian Province brought with them their local gods. A plan of renovation began in 1953 and lasted for twenty years. The loving and careful restoration have revitalized the unique cavorting figures and dragons on the true spirit of the old temple lives on today.
