Salt End power station was commissioned in 2000 by Entergy an American power generator. In 2005 the plant was sold to International Power for £500 million. The station is run on gas with a total output of 1200 MW; of that 100 MW is allocated to supply BP Chemicals on the same site. Salt End is one of the most efficient power stations in the UK.
