Library in Blenheim Palace being prepared for an evening function. Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire is a Grade 1 listed building. It is one of Britain's greatest palaces, and the only non-royal non-episcopal country house in England to hold the title of palace. It is a member of the Treasure Houses of England and was designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. . It was built in the early 18th century on the site of the ruined Woodstock Manor and park, and was given as a gift by Queen Ann to the 1st Duke of Marlborough John Churchill the military commander, who led allied forces in the Battle of Blenheim in1704. The 2000 acre park was landscaped by Capability palace is now the home of the 12th Duke of Marlborough and his family, and is famous as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
