Nubia saltworks in Nubia hamlet in the municipality of Paceco, Trapani, Sicily, Italy: The Salt pans of Nubia is a nature reserve. It's is operated by WWF Italy ( UNESCO ) and is a RAMSAR wetland. The coastline around Trapani is characterized by a picturesque landscape of shallow ponds, Spanish windmills and white pyramids of salt. The saltpans in Trapani are Europe's oldest salt marshes, and are home to several windmills used to drain the water.
