The Wilrtembergminister, Varnbiiler, and the Baden minister,Freydorf, offered to form an offensive and de-fensive alliance with Prussia for the purpose ofsaving the ruling familios, and in alarm lestBavaria and Hesse-Darrastadt might seek intheir territories compensation for cessions toPrussia. Bavaria also formed an alliance withPrussia, and ceded a small district in thenorth.
