Terre Haute, Indianapolis & East-ern Traction Company, In-dianapolis, Ind. Robert I. Todd, PresidentIn the previous campaigns, on ac-count of the unfortunate conditionsprevailing in Indianapolis because ofour inability to secure an increased rateof fare and, consequently, to grant in-creases in wages to our employeesv/hich would enable them to subscribeto any great extent to the several Lib-erty Loans, it was impossible for usto take a very active part in pushingthe sale of bonds. On the interurban lines posters weredistributed over the various divisionsand placed in all stations and waiting:rooms; stenciled signs were used onthe windows of the cars and stations:. Lend Him A Hand and committees were formed to securesubscriptions from employees. On theIndianapolis city lines we organizedcommittees of inspectors, carhouseforemen and representative employees, who went out and solicited subscrip-tions from the trainmen, carhouse, shopand power station employees. Posterswere placed on the billboards on thefront dash of the city cars, signs werestenciled on the car windows, and spacein the Traction Terminal station wasutilized for large poster advertisingfurnished by the government. We felt that in view of the conditionsunder which we were operating theamount of subscriptions securedthrough the companys committees wasmost favorable. We have made nodefinite plans in regard to the cam-paign which will begin on Sept. 28,other than probably to follow veryclosely along the lines mentioned above.
