Erosion, Mines gill on Helvellyn, Lake District, UK. The erosion was caused by super saturated ground during Storm Desmond in December 2015. For over 100 years, a lead mine had used the gill to dump its spoil. Storm Desmond washed the spoil heap away, causing thousands of tonnes of rubble to fall onto the main road below and block it with a 9 metre wall of debris.
