However, the originalBreed method proved too slow for commercial platform inspection, soin order to speed up the process, five smears were placed on a slideinstead of one. A rack was designed to hold twelve slides with stain-ing trays suflfieiently large to accommodate them which made it prepare samjjlcs from sixty different patrons at one time. Thenext effort was to hasten the individual steps in prei)aring the slidesfor observation. This ordinarily consisted of making the smear, dryingit, extracting the fat, fixing tlu smear to the slide, staining the film. €.
