The beautiful rose-coloredflowers are produced in great abundance and are heart shaped; thefoliage, too, is very luxuriant and graceful. All in all, this is probablyone of the finest hardy plants in cultivation. When planted in the openground it flowers in April and May. Absolutely LANTERN PLANT. For ornamental purposes these grasses are strikingly original in effect and im-part a degree of tropical brilliance to the landscape. They are among the mostavailable of plants where quick growth and attractive verdure are required forhedges, particularly in towns or villages where it is desired to obstruct the view ofunsightly objects, such as outbuildings, fences, vacant lots, etc., or they are unex-celled for planting singly. The clumps enlarge in size yearly, each seasons growthdying to the ground every Winter, but is supplanted by newer, denser and morevigorous increase. In the Fall the grass may be cut and utilized for the Winter pro-tection of tender plants and Roses. The plumes which these grasses produce arelarge and beautiful, having a feathery appearance, and are useful for interior deco-ration.
